Utility Workers Union of America: The Utility Workers Military Assistance Program (UMAP) is a collaborative partnership that will provide 100 veterans each year, over three years, with the opportunity to participate in a six-month “training to placement” workforce development pilot program. It is supported by Sutherland Partnership who brought in agency and foundation backing and is now a model that is gaining national attention from legislators to state agencies throughout the country. | |
International Brotherhood of Teamsters: The Teamsters Military Assistance Program (TMAP) is associated with the Helmets to Hardhats program and provides employment assistance to military veterans for jobs in the construction industry. The Teamsters have worked tirelessly to find jobs for returning veterans by expediting the process by which returning veterans can obtain Commercial Truck Driver licenses. Finding a job after completing a few years in the military is a crucial element to a smooth transition to civilian life. |
